If you are budgeting your expenses, I suggest that you purchase this set of 6 professional colors. The set contains 3 “cool” primary—red, yellow, blue--colors (leaning towards blue) and 3 “warm” primary—red, yellow, blue—colors
This is the least expensive way to enjoy reliable professional paints. Although the tubes seem small, they will last over a year of painting for a beginner.

The best cheap brushes are made with golden taklon bristles. I like Princeton Velvet Touch and recommend the following: Round brushes #4, #8 and #14. 1-1/2” flat.
